January 8, 2003 - The Oilers are in the middle of the three game road trip through California. With a game against the Sharks behind and the Kings on the schedule for the next night, the Oilers take on the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on this night, and for the first time in what will end up being a eight year career (with another season lost to a lockout) Fernando Pisani is in the lineup.
On this night Pisani doesn't play very much, two shifts and 1:08 minutes, both career lows, but after this game he becomes a much more regular presence in the Oilers lineup, dressing in 35 of the Oilers final 41 games and all six playoff games against the Dallas Stars. He would finish the season with 9-5-14, +7, 12 PIM in 41 games played.
Pisani would stay with the Oilers for six more seasons playing a total of 432 games for his hometown team, and was an huge part of the team's run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006 - 14 goals and 4 assists in 24 games. Pisani would finish his career with 60 games with the Blackhawks in the 2010/11 season. Today he's working as an Assistant Coach with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
