January 10, 2006 - The Oilers visit Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins, and get three goals from Shawn Horcoff, his first career NHL hat-trick, en route to a 3-1 win.

With four minutes left to play in the first period Horcoff puts the Oilers up by one with a shorthanded goal, his 12th goal of the season. The scores stays 1-0 until the opening minute of the third period when Horcoff strikes again, this time at even strength, extending the Oilers lead to two. Ryan Malone would get the Penguins within one before Horcoff put the games away for good with a power play goal in the game's final minute.

Three times before this night Horcoff had scored two goals in a game but had never managed to score a third. In the five times he's scored a pair since this night he's again failed to put home the hat-trick goal. This remains the only hat-trick of Horcoff's career.
