More training camp cuts from the Oilers this morning, and again no surprises. From the team’s twitter account:
The #Oilers have placed defenceman Mark Fraser on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL's @Condors.

The #Oilers have also assigned forward Tyler Benson to the @WHLGiants & forward Jere Sallinen to the @Condors.

With these three players off the roster, the Oilers now have 33 players left in training camp - 18 forwards, 12 defencemen, and three goalies. Before training camp started there were only a couple of spots on the opening night roster that were realistically up for grabs. With McLellan cutting the roster down as quickly as he has, we’re going to get a real opportunity this week to see the battle for those spots over the final three games of the Oilers’ preseason.
