Omark Not Practicing In Oklahoma City

Word out of Oklahoma City is that Linus Omark is not practicing today with the Barons due to a shoulder injury.

Omark was waived by the Oilers after a weak camp.

Omark has decided to test the shoulder today and is back on the ice. Follow @EricRSports for the latest.

Tom Gilbert's Low Panic Point

"He's got a really good disposition about him. More than anything, he's got a very low panic point. He is very smooth and poised out there. He doesn't get rattled under a lot of pressure in the middle of a game." --Kevin Dineen, talking about Tom Gilbert.

Well that was quick.

Bogdan Yakimov Named KHL Rookie Of The Week

Bogdan Yakimov was named rookie of the week after scoring once and assisting three other teams for four points in four games for HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Yakimov's first goal was a beauty.

Kassian Suspension

BTW, Weise's hearing is via telephone, NHL has requested in person hearing for Kassian.

Kassian Takes Gagner's Teeth Out

Sam Gagner took a high stick from Zack Kassian and not only lost some blood, but a few teeth as well. Hockey players are tough fellows and typically don't miss much time due to dental work. But if there are jaw problems, Gagner might miss a week or two. If that happens, expect to hear a word or two from Ryan Batty: Centre Depth | 4th line centre battle | Life without Hopkins | Taylor Hall to centre

Tom Gilbert Looking Good in Florida

I liked his game tonight. He was one guy that could, probably, walk away feeling--well, not the one guy, but he had a solid game, I thought. He looked comfortable playing with Brian Campbell, and he showed some strong poise out there, so I think that was a good first showing for him.

That's Florida's coach, Kevin Dineen, talking about Tom Gilbert's first exhibition game. Gilbert, who's on a try-out with the Panthers, scored Florida's only goal. I'd tell you how much he played, but sadly, the NHL didn't track anything but the score.

Yakimov Scores His First KHL Goal

Oilers prospect Bogdan Yakimov scored his first KHL goal early in the third period of Neftekhimik's game against Admiral today. The Admiral defence looks Oilers-esque on this particular goal with three players lining up and watching him go to the net. Like Yakupov last year though, the goal celebration could use some work.
