I guess that five goals and 12 assists in 14 games is good. At least good enough to get Connor McDavid named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for the second time this season. For those keeping track at home, he's played two full months this season and won both times.
Patrick Maroon gets Justin Schultz's number 19. So I guess we're not going to retire Schultz's jersey. How quickly we all forget just how big his influence on this franchise was.

Joined Lowetide this morning to discuss potential trade options at the deadline, what type of players the Oilers should target this off-season, what to do with Khaira and reasonable expectations this week.
Sportsnet is reporting that the Oilers will play outdoors next season in Winnipeg. And because people have looked at temperatures in Winnipeg, the game will be played in October. Should be fun.
Was this kid ever not awesome?

I'm not sure anyone is surprised by this. A few folks in the media had suggested that Gazdic would be claimed if the Oielrs were to place him on waivers. I always doubted that, but would have been okay with it had it happened since that would mean that he'd no longer be a member of the Oilers organization.
In the end he did clear waivers and will now call Bakersfield his home. Whether or not we see him in Edmonton again probably has more to do with Zack Kassian than anything Gazdic is going to do in the AHL.
The story of the day is obviously the return of Connor McDavid, but his won't be the only new face in the Oilers lineup tonight when they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets; Adam Clendening will debut with his newest team tonight as well. Between the pipes for the Oilers will be Cam Talbot.
