Two selections from the 2021 NHL Entry Draft are among the first wave of cuts for the Oilers this training camp.

  • Jake Chiasson (returned to Brandon-WHL)

Chiasson got a quick look, but his camp was short after he suffered what appeared to be a shoulder injury on the first day of camp.

  • Matvey Petrov (returned to North Bay - OHL)

2020’s number one draft pick in the OHL Import Draft was unable to make it to North America in 2020 due to travel issues related to Covid-19, the forward will look to have a big year for North Bay.

  • Tyler Tullio (loaned to Oshawa -OHL)

Tullio aveaged over a point per game with the Generals in 2019-20, he’ll return for one more shot after spending time in Slovakia last year.

The following have been released from their amateur try-outs

  • Drew Englot
  • Ethan Kruger
  • Henry Rybinski
  • Brady Burns

The most notable name among the four here is Henry Rybinski, who turned some heads in a rookie game when he potted two goals, as did Phil Kemp.

The Oilers begin their preseason schedule tomorrow as they are in Calgary to take on the Flames. Puck drop is 7 PM local time, look for our preview tomorrow.
