Morning, folks! We’ll keep it brief this morning because, well, I’m running late and it’s easier to get this in by 9AM if I simply stop talking.
Big stories from the weekend include:
- Kailer Yamamoto signed an extension, a one-year deal at the same price point (AAV) as Jesse Puljujarvi. This appears to put Edmonton in a jam for next season and might mean the end of either one of their Oilers careers by next summer. There simply isn’t cap space to handle both of these young men having great years without something else — like Duncan Keith retiring — happening.
- Dmitri Samorukov suffered a broken jaw in the Oilers/Flames rookie game and will be out for six weeks. When he left the game, everyone was worried it was shoulder. It isn’t, but that’s a rough start to Samorukov’s season.
- Main Camp opens on Wednesday before opening their preseason schedule on Sunday. We’re close.
- My fantasy football team sucks, but I might steal two wins from the opening two weeks anyway. Keep me in your thoughts.
