The Top 25 under 25 is coming, and it’s coming next week.
You’ve probably got a good idea on who number 1 is, but who is number 2?
Our annual tradition continues, and this time it starts right as Labour Day weekend kicks off. Every year, our staff selects the top 25 players and prospects in the Oilers’ system. On September 3rd, we’ll reveal the number 25 player in the system under the age of 25. We’ll reveal one every day as we count down to number 1.
This is the last year for most of the 2015 NHL Draft class. There’s at least one of them that will make the list. Looking back, the Oilers had plenty of players who likely would have made this list one final time, but no longer play for the club. Caleb Jones (fourth round), Ethan Bear (fifth round) and John Marino (sixth round) are all players under age 25 who easily would have made this year’s Top 25 one final time.
How much of 2021’s draft class will make the cut? The Oilers have great things planned for Xavier Bourgalt of the QMJHL. Will defenceman Luca Munzenberger make the cut? How about a pair from the WHL in Jake Chiasson or Max Wanner? You’ll have to wait and see.
Join us and play along beginning late next week as we get this year’s version countdown started with number 25 on September 3rd.
