Even before the 2021 season officially comes to a close, odds to win the 2021-22 Stanley Cup have been released from BetOnline.

The Oilers are in the middle of the pack at 25-1 along with Washington and Pittsburgh. It’s a bit longer than I would have expected, but 25-1 is wager-speak for a killer summer once it cashes.

THE FAVOURITES

The Avalanche lead the list at 5/1 odds to emerge as the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions. Edmonton’s division rival in Vegas is right behind the Avalanche at 6/1, while Tampa (7/1) rounds out the top three.

OUT EAST

Toronto sits at 14/1, while the book isn’t quite sold on the Habs, who open at 20/1. If you’re feeling like gambling, Ottawa opens at 66/1.

IN THE PACIFIC

San Jose (80-1), Los Angeles (70/1), Arizona (75/1), Vancouver (50/1) and Calgary (50/1) are all big long shots.

LONG SHOTS

Along with Seattle, Anaheim, Buffalo, Columbus, Detroit, New Jersey are all 100/1. Maybe if all those clubs got together to form a superclub they’d have a better chance.

Oilers aren’t exactly favourites, but they’re far from the longest of shots. Of course, a solid offseason could help drive these numbers to more favourable odds.

The Oilers (and the rest of the NHL) will begin the 2021-22 NHL season in mid-October.
