Oilers are back on the board and select Jake Chiasson at 116th overall. A 6’2” wing from Abbotsford, Chiasson was ranked the 61st overall North American skater by NHL Central Scouting.
Chiasson is described as a two way forward, but is not afraid to go to the front of the net to make a play. He’s listed at 165 lbs which might a little light for a player going into the dirty areas, but he’s an excellent passer, a responsible player in his own end and looks to be a solid choice for the Oilers in the fourth round. Chiasson finished sixth in scoring among his teammates on a club that won 18 of 24 games in a shortened season.
Chiasson is Edmonton’s first selection from the WHL in four years.
Jake Chiasson says he likes to model his game after Flames forward Elias Lindholm.

Jake Chiasson joins Xavier Bourgault (Shawinigan, QMJHL) and defenceman Luca Münzenberger (DNL) in the Oilers Class of 2021 draft selections.
Barring any futher moves, the Oilers have three picks remaining (two in the sixth, and one in the seventh) in this year’s entry draft.
