Welcome to Day 1 of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Tonight’s portion of the NHL Entry Draft begins at 6 PM local time, it will be televised on Sportsnet and SN NOW where available.

The Oilers currently hold pick number 19. A pick at 19th overall could give them a player that they hope will become an impact player over the coming years. The Oilers might have a shot at a goaltender, as a couple might go in the first round. They’ll definitely have their eyes peeled if projected first rounder Sebastian Cossa makes it to the 19th selection. Cossa has had a standout tenure with the Oil Kings, it would no doubt be difficult for the Oilers to gloss over the prospect from Fort Mc.

Ken Holland made it pretty clear that he wasn’t in the market to draft a defenceman at his media availability yesterday. He’s got plenty of forwards to choose from if he wants to go in that direction. Expect the unexpected, some off-the-board movement from clubs via the trade market has already occurred.

Let’s all have some fun out there.
