While the Oilers are gearing up for a busy offseason that includes an expansion draft, the entry draft, and free agency, there’s preseason hockey just over the mountain. It’s coming soon, and it’ll be here before you know it.
Less than ten weeks separate today from Edmonton’s first tune up at the end of September. Over a two week course, the Oilers will play eight games against divisional opponents. A couple of them will feature a new Pacific Division opponent.
Edmonton will get things going on September 26th against their provincial rivals in Calgary. They’ll face off against the NHL’s newest club on September 28th and October 1st when they take on the Seattle Kraken. A pair of games against the Winnipeg Jets and a pair against the Vancouver Canucks will settle the eight game preseason card in time for the regular season, which is scheduled to begin on October 12th this year.
The 2021-22 NHL season isn’t too far off. Once the expansion draft, the entry draft and free agency hit the rearview, it’ll be here in no time at all.
