Amazing. Though he currently plays for the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen (spits), we are huge fans of this Edmonton-born pioneer. The bravery shown by this young man is nothing short of remarkable and I hope he has a long, successful career.
In Oilers news, it’s looking more and more like Adam Larsson is going to test Unrestricted Free Agency. Allan Mitchell — affectionately known as Lowetide around these parts — said it best:
If this is goodbye, I’m going to miss Adam Larsson playing for the Oilers a long, long time. He represented a throwback player-type, tough as nails and all about coverage and defending. I’m not certain Larsson convinced all of the fan base of his quality, he came here under difficult circumstances. For me, whatever disappointment felt at first blush gave way to a five-year appreciation for his rugged play and sacrifice.
Adam Larsson bled for the Oilers and you. If this is goodbye, I wish him well. If this is goodbye.

Beyond that, we’re still playing the waiting game while NHL rosters are frozen in advance of the Seattle Kraken expansion draft. Tyler Benson and Dominik Kahun headline an unimpressive exposed list for Edmonton, but a loss of either one would represent a disappointing outcome.
Word on the street is Zack Kassian might have some interest around the league and therefore might be moving on, but otherwise, all of the rumors Edmonton is attached to are bad (Hyman for a buttload, for instance) and there’s nothing to look forward to.
Let’s just pray they don’t deal Ethan Bear.
