New, comment

#Oilers extend Shore for two years. PLUS: Why? ALSO: Seriously, why?! AND: Gaetan Haas signs in Switzerland for five years. The cosmic ballet goes on.

Edmonton Oilers v Winnipeg Jets - Game Four
You’re gonna see a lot more of this if Ken Holland keeps giving term to the worst players in the league.

Morning, folks.

In that it is morning. It is not a good one. The Oilers, in their infinite wisdom, extended one of the worst forwards — by results — in the NHL over the last two seasons for not one, but two more years.

Two. Years.

I hate to say I told you so, but they should have fired this man long before he had an opportunity to do something so obnoxiously foolish that it, by itself, should be grounds for termination. This is one of those signings that says so much about the organization’s thought and player-evaluation processes, and all of it is extremely concerning.

We’re talking about a guy who could be eminently replaced on the waiver wire at any point in a calendar year. These players should quite literally never get extensions and they damn sure shouldn’t get two years.

The summer of Ken Holland is upon us. He’s 0/1.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

It wasn’t the playoff run that Oilers fans expected but it’s the one they got.

Edmonton’s season came to an end last Monday after the Winnipeg Jets swept them 4-0 in their opening-round series. Corey and Preston analyze how this happened and ponder what the offseason could hold for Ken Holland.

It isn’t all bad, however, as the duo discusses a wonderful season by the AHL Pacific Division Champion Bakersfield Condors!
