Morning, folks.
Good vibes keep reverberating this morning as the Oilers won their second in two nights last night, another comfortable result that saw them go behind early and then make up and overcome the deficit without ever really threatening to lose. There was a quiet reassurance in watching them go about their business last night. Part of that might have come from the obvious reality that Vancouver, at present, is absolute dogshit, but I digress. Vancouver is absolute dogshit. Or, wait. Oilers.
Connor McDavid got points on the Oilers’ first two goals last night, bringing his season total to 93 (in 51 GP) and leaving him 7 pts shy of 100 with 5 GP left. I wonder how many times in McDavid’s career he’s scored less than 7 pts in 5 GP. I’d imagine it’s fewer than you might think.
Evan Bouchard made his (re-)debut last night, while William Lagesson returned to the lineup as well. It came at the cost of Ethan Bear and Caleb Jones, so that sucks, but Bouchard scored a goal and otherwise looked revelatory out there and probably should have been playing the whole season. Especially so after they traded Tyson Barrie at the deadline.
tippett on bouchard for the rest of the season: "we'll just take it game by game here and see how things goal. we used a regular recall for him, so he's available to us for the rest of the games. we'll see where it goes with rest and injures and stuff like that."

draisaitl on why it's a team goal for the oilers to get mcdavid 100 points: "he does so much for our team, he does so much for us on a nightly basis, the least we can do is help him out as much as we can. it might not be that important to him, but it's sure important for us."
