THE OILERS ARE GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS pic.twitter.com/BwNKSzUSRK— x - s (@draisaitlgifs) May 4, 2021
Sorry for the delay this morning, these 8PM starts, am I right?! But actually, the site’s editor was down so we couldn’t do anything for awhile. Our apologies.
This was going to be a brief treatise on the excellence of Connor McDavid — who posted another 4 points last night bringing him that much closer to the 100-point mark for the truncated season — and the excitement and relief of the Oilers officially clinching a playoff spot last night — but then the Tom Wilson disciplinary news broke:
Washington’s Tom Wilson has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Roughing NY Rangers’ Pavel Buchnevich.— NHL Player Safety (@NHLPlayerSafety) May 4, 2021
Like fucking imagine Happy Gilmore took off his skate and tried to stab someone and then the league gave him a $5000 fine— x - Copper & Blue (@CopperandBlue) May 4, 2021
In case anyone missed his antics from last night, he was on one. He slammed Pavel Buchnevich’s head into the ice dangerously before pulling Artemiy Panarin’s hair en route to a suplex — on ice — and feeding him knuckles, too. I can’t possibly say this enough, or with enough conviction, but fuck Tom Wilson. I hope he stubs his toe every day from now until the end of time. I hope he constantly finds hair in his Big Macs and fingernails in his White Claws. What a piece of shit.
This has to be the video that makes the @NHL finally get this guy out of this league. Panarin has no helmet on, Wilson pulls his hair, sweeps the leg, and then body slams him, with NO HELMET. For what?— Blue York (@IamBlueYork) May 4, 2021
A $5K fine. Wow.
But, I digress. The Oilers have another game tonight and, considering they’ve clinched, perhaps we see Evan Bouchard come into the lineup for one of Tyson Barrie or Adam Larsson? Otherwise, it might be hard to convince the old body to stay up for an 8PM start to watch a game that, outside of McDavid’s chase for 100, doesn’t matter.
BUT DON’T LET THAT STOP YOU FROM CHECKING OUT OUR GAMEDAY COVERAGE!
