The Oilers and the Jets will (finally!) begin their series against each other on Wednesday. Our resident experts have carefully determined through brute statistical analysis and high quality tea -leaf reading the most likely outcome of this upcoming best-of-seven series.

The results were overwhelmingly one-sided.

Shona: Oilers in 6. I think the Jets have enough offense to make things competitive, and if Hellebuyck manages to keep his composure against McDavid it could get real interesting. But I think the Oilers have too much offense (and recent results seem to back that up) for the Jets to get by them

Preston: I have Edmonton taking this one in 5 games. Connor Hellebuyck will steal one game for the Jets but it’ll be game over after that!

Matt: Edmonton in 6. I think this is one of the closer series in round one. Edmonton is the favorite, and for good reason given their regular season dominance over the Jets on the back of Connor McDavid’s phenomenal season.

Sunil: Edmonton in 7

Corey: Oilers in 4, but game 3 goes to double overtime.

Lukas: Oilers in 7. Jets have the better goalie. We have the best 2 forwards. I hope Smith continues his amazing play. I hope Barrie keeps getting points. I hope Ehler’s is healthy and read to play... next season. I hope and I hope. I think the North is extremely even and both the first and second round will be 7 game series. I’m glad we’re not playing the Habs and I hope they drive TO crazy!

Jeff: Oilers in 5. I think the Jets take one game in Winnipeg, but recent success has been too great for the Oilers. Even with Nik Ehlers likely making his return, the tide is too high for the Jets to get out from under.

So there you have it. It’s unanimous. The Oilers are going to win this thing, it’s just by a matter of how soon they do it. The Oilers need to win this in four games so that they can catch up to the other series that have already started four days ago.

What do you think?
