It’s official: the Oilers will play the first game of their playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, May 19th.
Like the abbreviated regular season, the schedule for the playoffs will be a bit...different this year. The Oilers and Jets hook up on the 19th of May, other clubs will already be playing their third game of their respective series at that point.
Let’s take a look at the schedule.

Six days from today, the Oilers will host the Jets for Game 1 of their best-of-seven series. It’s unique because as the Oilers finish their regular season on Saturday afternoon, the Bruins and the Capitals will begin their best of seven that night.
Game 2 will take place on Friday, the 21st. The series will shift to Winnipeg on Sunday the 23rd. Clubs will be back in action the very next night for game 4. Games 5, 6 and 7 will bounce back and forth from Edmonton to Winnipeg if necessary.
I don’t really love a back-to-back game on Sunday into Monday, but I don’t get to make the rules. Maybe the Sunday game is an afternoon game, giving a few extra hours until Monday night’s game.
Six more sleeps.
