SBN Counterpart: Nucks Misconduct

The Edmonton Oilers head to the west coast tonight, taking their talents to Vancouver for a quick pit-stop against the Canucks before heading back to Alberta for two-game set with the Calgary Flames.

Both teams are on the up and up, with Vancouver feeling themselves a little after some positive results against Toronto and Montreal, while Edmonton is fresh off beating the absolute shit out of Ottawa over nine periods.

Something’s gonna give.

Vancouver hasn’t played since Wednesday, so they’ll figure to be more rested than the Oilers who played — and flew — last night. Mikko Koskinen is slated to go for the Oilers, while Thatcher Demko will start for Vancouver.

Secret Gardiner

Jake Gardiner makes $4.05MM with two more years due after this one. Doesn’t seem super prohibitive, so you assume he’s been bad, right? Maybe not:

Gardiner would also help take the edge off a Darnell Nurse deal in advance of his next, presumably monstrous, contract.

It’s All Uphill

Mikko Koskinen has let the first shot in more than once this season, putting the Oilers in a bit of a jam early on more than one occasion. Will tonight be more of the same, or can he buck the trend?

How does it end?
