Oilers stay hot after one of the most entertaining games in years on Friday night. PLUS: Connor McDavid’s worldie. AND: Tyson Barrie, Devin Shore, and MORE!

Morning, folks.

I don’t know about you, but I’m still loving the vibes after that otherworldly comeback from a 4-1 deficit to win on Friday night. A game that was so thoroughly entertaining, that featured one of the greatest goals you’ll ever see in your lifetime, and that marked the Oilers’ best ever start (9 wins from 10 games) to an NHL season. It was a fun one.

In case you’ve been living under a meteor, here’s that goal one more time:

What can you even say?! The best part of that goal for me — and there are plenty to choose from — is the decision. You can very clearly see the exact moment he decides to make a play, and then he just, makes it. It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen and it is for that reason it might be my favorite goal of his. It’s right up there with his goals against Columbus, Anaheim, and Toronto, and given the context of the game — and the night, with it being Kevin Lowe’s banner-raising and all — it might just sit atop the list of his greatest works for me. Incredible, incredible stuff.

(Anyone who says this is really just a 1v4 is an idiot, and anything else they say can be disregarded moving forward.)

One thing I’d like to briefly touch on is how quiet the NHL MSM — who have vowed to do better in the wake of the Kyle Beach story — are with regard to Ryan Whitney’s support of Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy after a piece came out last week detailing his being a piece of shit who sexually assaults women. I don’t think a single one has said anything publicly about how bad of a look that is for Whitney — one of the more prominent figures in the game today given the popularity of his podcast — and for the league generally to be so clearly associated with a brand that traffics in racism and misogyny, and it really does speak to how all of that MSM bullshit about doing and being better was exactly that: bullshit. Lip service.

Meanwhile, you got scores of pictures of Brad Aldrich’s name being X’d out on the Stanley Cup. All of them couldn’t wait to share that with you. Where was that same eagerness to cover the story in the first place?!

It’s all so pathetic.
