The Oilers have shored up the training camp roster a little bit more.

Philip Broberg, Ilya Konovalov and Filip Berglund have been assigned to Bakersfield. Forwards Seth Griffith and Cooper Marody have been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment.

The Phil/Fil duo is expected to log some big minutes as the top pair in Bakersfield this upcoming season. Selected eighth overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Philip Broberg will begin his entry level contract this upcoming season. The 24-year old Filip Berglund is in his final year of his two year ELC, the Oilers are depending on him to show well this year in the AHL.

Goaltender Ilya Konovalov will be a major player in the crease for the Condors this year. He split a shutout with crease-mate Stuart Skinner in a 4-0 victory over the Flames last week, and he could be the first goaltender call-up if the Oilers need to make the call. He’ll have some big competition with Skinner, who showed well in a 2-1 OTL against the Seattle Kraken on Friday night.

The Oilers waived Cooper Marody and Seth Griffith for purpose of assignment as well.

With just ten days to go until the regular season begins, the Oilers will shape their roster even further in the upcoming week. They’ve got Calgary once more on Monday night.

Stay tuned.
