Morning, folks.
Yesterday was a big news day in the hockey world as former Chicago draft pick Kyle Beach came forward as the John Doe in the ongoing Brad Aldrich investigations. Beach is incredibly brave and we unequivocally stand with him and hope that every single person involved is out of the game for eternity, that their records are scrubbed, and that the NHL forgets about them. All of them. Beach sat down with TSN’s Rick Westhead to touch on his experience over these last 11 years as a victim with no support. It was absolutely heartbreaking.
TW: Sexual Assault, Homophobia
Kyle Beach, John Doe in the Blackhawks investigation, talks to @rwesthead about how his NHL experience 'changed forever,’ his reaction to the findings, and support for other victims of sexual assault.

Meanwhile, prominent members of that 2010 Chicago team, like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Duncan Keith, spoke to the media as well. Toews acknowledged he found out months later and did absolutely nothing while labeling Stan Bowman et. al. good people, while Kane and Keith denied knowing anything — bullshit, BTW — and that was about it. Keith went as far as to say he didn’t even hear any of the homophobic slurs being directed at Beach. But we know better:
here’s a reminder regarding the 2010 blackhawks’ locker room culture: the photos of toews & kane celebrating with the stanley cup have “[chris] pronger is gay” scrawled up on their pre-game planning board pic.twitter.com/EGI0l2oD6t

OK, Duncan.
And then, Edmonton’s MSM, in arguably one of the most embarrassing displays of journalism you will ever see, not only took him at his word, they produced this in the immediate aftermath:

Could you imagine having the audacity to publish something like this?! Holy shit.
Oilers head coach, Dave Tippett, also spoke to the media about it. Either shockingly — or wholly unsurprisingly — Tippett came off even worse than Keith did:
Oilers' Dave Tippett on the CHI sexual assault scandal: "I don't have much comment on it. I have some personal relationships there, so I don't want to comment too much about it. It was an unfortunate incident (11) yrs ago that, I'm sure, you'd go back and do things differently."

My god. Stubbing your toe is an unfortunate incident. This is so obviously much more than that. Just, please, remember who you’re dealing with here when these shitty dinosaurs talk about character and leadership and all of that other absolute nonsense. They’re all pure garbage.
Or, maybe not all of them? Tyson Barrie had this to say:

Unequivocally denouncing this heinous behavior is the least these guys can do. At least one Oiler did that.
