Finally, our heroes return to the ice tonight when they play host to the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. The Oilers have been off since their big win in Las Vegas on Friday , and should be fresh as a new pair of Jordans — assuming nobody caught a bad case of long-Vegas Flu — when they play tonight. It sounds as though Mikko Koskinen is most likely to get the nod for Edmonton, but stay tuned on that.
According to our friends at SBN’s Broad Street Hockey, Philly has been somewhat of a pleasant surprise this season, and Claude Giroux and Carter Hart are playing well. We’ll have you covered with our typical GAMEDAY...coverage.
The NHL released their punishment for the Chicago Hockey Team after the results of the Jenner & Block investigation were made public. It was paltry and inadequate, and frankly embarrassing. A $2MM fine is less than the New Jersey Devils were fined for signing a long contract.
Neither the Winnipeg Jets nor the Florida Panthers made any moves to rid themselves of GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and HC Joel Quenneville yet, citing the upcoming meetings with Gary Bettman — who should also resign, IMO — in both cases.
In less crushingly depressing, horrible news: Dmitri Samorukov’s jaw is feeling better. He’s been loaned to Bakersfield to get up to speed.
Preston & Corey are unusually chipper as they talk about an undefeated Oilers club.
