THREE THINGS TO LOOK FOR
- THAT TOP LINE: I’ve looked at this top line now for a few days and I’m still a little surprised that Tippett is running with both Leon and Connor McDavid on the top line. I’m especially surprised that Hyman isn’t with either 29 or 97. The Oilers will need big things from the top line, especially if 18-93-56 take any time to gel.
- SECOND PAIR: All eyes on Ken Holland’s new pair. Duncan Keith might not be asked to do the exact same thing he was asked to do in Chicago, but he and Cody Ceci will still need to be high efficiency minute munchers on the second pair. Can the new duo put it all together tonight?
- NET GAINS: Mike Smith will look to pick up right where he left off last year. Asking Smith to finish with a .923 SV% again this year might be a tall ask, but he’ll need to be lights out tonight to help the Oilers get two points in the standings.
It’s game one. Let’s all have some fun out there tonight.
