The Oilers have reduced their roster by six players in this abbreviated training camp; they are as follows
Forwards: Cooper Marody, Adam Cracknell, Ryan Stanton, Seth Griffith
Defencemen: Markus Niemelainen
Goal: Stuart Skinner
The roster is trimmed down from 39 players to 33 (20F, 10D and 3G). The Oilers will be required to cut four more players between now and Tuesday to compile a final roster of 29 players (23 + 6 “taxi squad” players).
Edmonton will cut four more players between now and the start of the season. Newcomer forward Alan Quine remains with the big club, as do forwards Tyler Benson and Patrick Russell. On defence, both William Lagesson and Theodor Lennstrom remain in camp. Goaltender Anton Forsberg remains with the club, and is the most likely option for the taxi squad should the Oilers roll with three goaltenders on the 23+6.
The Oilers will finalize their roster early next week before their season opener against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.
