There are 40 camp invites. There will be a roster of 23 at the end of training camp, but there will also be a six player “taxi squad” that will travel with the team

This year I’ve finally figured out how to type umlauts. Gonna be a good year.

There’s not much on-ice action to talk about today, other than the optional skate that took place. Media availability followed, players (and coaches) were excited to get back to work.

Coach Tippett said that this year’s theme is to take a step forward. Tippett also commented that there isn’t one player who will take the place of Oscar Klefbom’s minutes in the lineup, though it is to be expected that Darnell Nurse will probably get some more of those minutes. One thing Tippett spoke about to really keep an eye on this year will be how the goaltenders will be utilized, and I really think this is a big piece of this year’s puzzle. Back-to-back games will be everywhere on the schedule, but so will three games in four nights, and four games in six. It will be interesting to see if the taxi squad is used, or if the club will keep an extra goaltender on the roster at all times.

The first formal practice begins tomorrow.
