Morning, folks!
Look, last night’s “marquee” matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs might have sucked as an entertainment spectacle, it might have been so boring we all wanted to stop watching, but they won it, so we didn’t.
Edmonton was content to let Toronto out-attempt them for most of the night but did a good enough job at limiting the quality of those chances that they managed to win the xG battle pretty much from start to finish.
It certainly wasn’t a classic but it was kind of a vintage Dave Tippett win.
Never critique a win!

EDM got the bounces.
Koekkoek-Larsson were very good.
Yamamoto on pucks all night.
Won the special teams:
1/3 on PP
2/2 on PK
Now, I don’t know about that whole ‘never critique a win’ thing, but the Oilers had something like 10 or 11 shots through 40 minutes last night. They might have won last night playing that way, but that’s probably one of the 2 or 3 out of 10 they would win playing like that. To me, it’s not necessarily sustainable.
But green jacket, gold jacket, who gives a shit?! The Oilers put their second win up on the board and, who knows, maybe they’ll get their third on Friday.
Once again we had an absolute banger last night in the Game Thread, even if the game itself was butt cheeks. We appreciate you all stopping by, and look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow.
Say it with me now:
LFG.
