We’re 36 hours from the start of the 2020-21 NHL season. Finally.
Sure, it’s already 2021, but who’s counting?
In case you missed it, the Oilers’ best defenseman, Oscar Klefbom — who unfortunately will be out for at least the whole season — spoke to the media for the first time since news of his absence broke awhile back. Here’s the full interview:
It’s honestly pretty hard to listen to for me. Here’s a 27-year old professional athlete with more abs than most people have cousins and he can’t even pick up his own children. It sounds like he hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in literal years. That he’s managed to play as well as he has over the past few seasons with what seems to be one functioning arm is incredibly impressive.
It also kind of sounds like, at least to me, that his returning to hockey would be a bonus right now. We wish Oscar all the best, and hope he enjoys a full recovery such that he can live his life without debilitating pain. If he comes back to feature for the Oilers once more, that’s great, too.
