Ken Holland has his work cut out for him in the next little while. The Oilers are still a few players away from being better than they were last season, and yet, there is no other option. That they have only a handful (+1) of years of control left of Connor McDavid necessitates them taking a significant step forward this off-season.
Also, possible breaking news, from yesterday:
You read that right, folks. That’s the Edmonton Oilers very own Übermensch, Leon Draisaitl, reportedly heading to Germany to play for the Cologne Sharks. Sounds like the 2020/21 NHL season is far from a guarantee at this point if reigning Art Ross winners are securing work overseas in the meantime.
There was this, too:
The Condors have signed d-man Ryan Stanton & forward Graham McPhee to one-year contracts!— Bakersfield Condors (@Condors) September 15, 2020
Stanton has played 479 @TheAHL games over 9 seasons, including 2 with Bakersfield (2017-2019) while McPhee was drafted by the @EdmontonOilers in 2016 & played 4 seasons with @BCHockey. pic.twitter.com/zzgGHMdpEK
This right here is the kind of AHL signing I like: one made by the AHL team.
