Oilers Lotto Bid Falls Flat

Can they win anything?!

The New York Rangers have won the 2020 Draft Lottery and (likely) the rights to select F Alexis Lafreniere (QMJHL - Rimouski). This comes at the heels of the Rangers moving up four spots last season to draft F Kaapo Kakko.

The Oilers bid for #1 was over as quickly as it began. Technically, it did last longer than the other six losing team’s bids, as Edmonton’s ping pong ball — complete with for sure, 100%, definitely, absolutely the Edmonton Oilers logo on it — went into the drum first. Is it a drum? Would you call that a drum?

With this latest setback, one wonders if the Oilers will ever win anything ever again in our lifetimes. Even in their tournament, Edmonton found away to choke it away.

Maybe 2020 really is cursed.
