NHL: Edmonton Oilers at Chicago Blackhawks Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Morning, folks!

Busy news day yesterday with Ken Holland speaking to the media about all things Oilers. The biggest story? Surely Philip Broberg, who was originally scheduled to head back to Sweden for SHL training camp, now set to say in Edmonton for the duration of the playoffs has to be up there.

Curiously, for all the fanfare we’re hearing about Broberg, we’re hearing nothing about Evan Bouchard, who, by most accounts, is (or was) further ahead coming into camp.

During scrimmage yesterday, Connor McDavid took a puck in the melon courtesy Zack Kassian, but he only missed a few moments and was back out there for Team Blue.

Speaking of the scrimmage, Mike Smith — the goalie that should NOT start game 1, as far as I can see it — got shellacked last night, like a high school woodworking project.

Word on the street is the Oilers and OEG are planning on hosting a drive-in beer gardens watch party type situation where the old Baccarat used to be. I cannot properly express how absolutely the dumbest that idea is.

I have more quips, but that’s not what you came for. Get your fix and get the hell on with your life. We’ll see you back again tomorrow.
