Day 3 of camp is in the books.

We’re 10 days out from travel day, in which all of the other NHL teams who have been practicing since Monday will be making moves to enter their Hub city bubbles for the foreseeable future.

It’s getting closer. It may indeed happen. We wait.

The latest 31 Thoughts podcast talks about Jonathan Toews’ recent comments about COVID-19, the Canadiens, “unfit to play”, Lindy Ruff’s new job, and more.

3 practices and 3 scrimmages later, we’re starting to get an idea about what these Oilers are going to be about come August. But, there are still questions.

Zack Kassian appears likely to flank Connor McDavid, but he will have to play disciplined if he wants to be a positive contributor.

As of yesterday, Corey Crawford still hasn’t made an appearance at Chicago’s camp. The verbiage out of the Windy City is that he’s ‘unable to participate at this time’. Obviously, nobody knows what that means, but if Chicago has to go without their number 1, that’s a big boon for the Oilers.

With Ryan Nugent-Hopkins taking rushes with Connor McDavid and Zack Kassian, it looks as though Andreas Athanasiou has taken his spot beside Leon Draisaitl and Kailer Yamamoto.

Ethan Bear, who was in the conversation for the team’s best defender this season, will have a massive role to play this summer.

Dmitri Samorukov has been officially loaned to the KHL’s CSKA Moskow for the 2020-21 season. Nothing new here as this has been reported for a little while now, but it’s official.

The Oilershave enjoyed a resurgence of sorts this season, and Dave Tippett was a huge part of it. Unfortunately, the NHL chose 3 other men as Jack Adams finalists for 2019-20. That said, I think all three of the finalists — Bruce Cassidy (BOS), John Tortorella (CBJ), and Alain Vigneault (PHI) — have great cases as well, even if Tippett is Ken Holland’s best acquisition as Oilers GM.
