Our thoughts are with Colby Cave and his family after a medical emergency. ALSO: remembering Alex Selivanov’s time in Edmonton, updates on Anton Slepyshev and Filip Berglund, a Ken Holland media availability, and MORE!

Hey, folks!

First things first, we hope that Colby Cave makes a full and speedy recovery after being placed in a medically induced coma after surgery to correct a brain bleed. Cave is only 25 years old, and made headlines earlier this year when he checked in with Flames prospect Martin Pospisil shortly after knocking him out cold. He scored a lovely goal in Pittsburgh too. Hoping for the best for the Cave family.

The Score took a shot at a 2015 redraft. No surprises in the top two, with Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel remaining the top two picks. In news that will obviously be devastating to Oilers fans, however, all three of Mathew Barzal, Sebastian Aho, and Thomas Chabot cracked the top six. All three were available when the Oilers chose to deal picks 16 and 33 to Long Island for Griffin Reinhart. Think about that. Not too hard, but still.

Lowetide remembered John Prine (RIP) while dabbling on a number of Oilers topics, including giving us his current prospects list for the upcoming (someday) NHL Entry Draft.

Alex Selivanov came to Edmonton after stuggling for two consecutive years, but found his form for one sweet stretch in 1999-2000.

Ken Holland spoke to the media yesterday about a number of things, including the Oilers priority in offering prospects Filip Berglund and Markus Niemelainen contracts, as well as trying to re-sign Anton Slepyshev after a great year in Russia. Holland also spoke about his own personal optimism in terms of the NHL season returning at some point.

Whether Holland’s optimism amounts to anything remains to be seen, and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman suggested as much yesterday when he admitted that completing the regular season may not be possible.

A bit of a silver lining if the season doesn’t resume: the Oilers will keep the conditional third-round pick offered in the James Neal / Milan Lucic swap.

That’ll do it for today. Stay safe, everyone.
