Another week in the books in this new reality of ours. Hope everyone’s staying safe, healthy, and home as much as possible.
Lowetide took a look back at the Oilers performance in the third rounds of Entry Drafts. Since 2010, just 3 of their 13 selections have seen NHL action. Their most recent selections, Filip Berglund (2016), Stuart Skinner (2017), Dmitri Samorukov (2017), and Ilya Konovalov (2019) appear to be trending better.
The NHL and NHLPA are still looking at contingencies for resuming the season rather than cancelling it outright. Their optimism is nice, but I can’t wrap my head around it just yet. The latest talks have them looking at neutral sites to fly everyone into to play in front of nobody. It sounds nice, but unlikely.
Connor McDavid and his legendary strength coach Gary Roberts have put together a series of body weight (only) workouts that kids (and adult slobs like myself) can attempt from home without the need for a trainer or equipment.
Oscar Klefbom put his beautiful face on camera for the masses to talk about his decision to return to Sweden, some of his Oilers teammates, and what’s next for the league and its players and fans.
A fairly light weekend, news-wise, but such is our life right now. Get acquainted with the few stories that ARE out there, and we’ll see you back here again tomorrow. All the best.
