Could The Season Be Saved? Oddsmakers Seem To Think So

Is A Late Summer Finish In The Cards for the 2019-20 Season?

In an alternate reality, the Oilers would be hosting the Ducks tonight.

Unfortunately, that reality is not this one. The NHL season was uneventfully put on hold with a dozen games remaining, and there’s no certainty as to when (or if) we’ll see them through.

While the games have only been postponed and not cancelled, there is some hope that the clubs will get on the ice sooner rather than later. The question is: when?

The short answer? Not soon.

The long answer? Maybe July. At least, that’s what oddsmakers would have you believe.

Some odds for you on this Monday. (All odds courtesy of BetOnline)

August 1st is just under 100 days from today, and I don’t have the confidence that we’re going to be where we need to be in order to ensure the safety of every player and fan. Could the league play in front of empty arenas? What would the playoff seeding look like? Would the league finish the remaining dozen games prior to the playoffs?

There are a lot of questions. I don’t know if there are any answers.
