Surprising absolutely no one, Leon Draisaitl has been named the NHL’s first star for the month of February.

Leon capped off a fantastic month last night. He scored a couple and had the primary assist on the game winner. Let’s watch that game winner, shall we?

Leon Draisaitl took the reins when Connor McDavid went down with a quad injury, scoring an impressive 23 points during the month of February (10-13-23. Last night’s 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets saw Leon pick up his 100th, 101st and 102nd points. Currently, Leon leads the NHL in overall scoring by eleven points (David Pastrnak, 91).

Yes, he can drive his own line. He’s doing quite well, actually. There’s a good chance he eclipses the 120 point mark this season, something he and both Connor McDavid could end up doing.

Leon (and the rest of the Oilers) look to continue the charge towards a playoff berth as March rolls around. Here’s to an equally successful March. An equally successful April, May and June, too.
