As per the Oilers’ official Twitter account:
#Oilers defenceman Oscar Klefbom will be out of action for two to three weeks with a shoulder injury. pic.twitter.com/8Hkz8kPIo5
— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) February 18, 2020
Klefbom (5-28-33 in 59GP) has been the Oilers most reliable LD for the past few seasons, and just finished playing half the game in the Oilers’ impressive win in Carolina.
Losing their 1D for any amount of time is deeply concerning, but coupled with the injury to Connor McDavid, the Oilers will now be without their 1F and 1D for the next little while.
The Oilers haven’t announced any roster moves since the news broke, but don’t be surprised to see a guy like William Lagesson draw back in against Boston while Caleb Jones slides up beside either of Bear or Larsson, depending on how they choose to deploy Darnell Nurse. One would have to think Lagesson would get another look in the bigs before they recall the abhorrent and racist — and shitty — Brandon Manning, but it remains to be seen.
We’ll update this article when that news breaks.
Until then? Pray. Hope. We’ve got nothing else.
