It’s Friday, so you know what that means: time for me to move aside and let you talk amongst yourselves.
Maybe the first truly controversial entry into the Top 25 dropped yesterday, with many surprised over how low a guy like Dylan Holloway ended up. That he seems likely to end up behind Raphael Lavoie was a surprise to some, too.
Remember, most of us formed our opinions of these players (for good or bad) before Holloway’s season kicked off and we really got an opportunity to view him. You can talk all you want about work ethic and build or whatever, but there’s a case to be made that Lavoie has done more than Holloway to date, and that his potential ceiling is about as high — even if it is perhaps more of a boom/bust situation.
Oh, and there’s also this:
Development: Sources say #NHL shared draft schedules with #NHLPA on Thursday, one including a 56-game regular season for 2021.— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) December 4, 2020
Drafts were based on Jan. 1 start date, but sides discussed pushing that back (Jan. 15 or 16?).
Told talks were unrelated to recent economic requests.
Exciting? Perhaps. But then there was this:
Difficult to say definitively ‘progress’ has been made, given the outstanding economic issues and skyrocketing COVID-19 numbers. But to me, this is one of most positive signs yet that there will be a 2021 season.— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) December 4, 2020
We’ll see where all this goes. Two sides remain in discussion.
To quote the great Happy Gilmore: Green Jacket, Gold Jacket, who gives a shit?!
Anyway, have a great weekend, folks. Stay safe.
