With NHL hockey likely to begin in just under a month, now’s the time when oddsmakers roll out some preliminary numbers.
For Connor McDavid, those numbers are promising.
Bet Online has Connor McDavid at a cool 4/1 to win the Hart Memorial Trophy this season. The Hart Memorial Trophy is awarded to the NHL’s Regular Season MVP, a trophy that McDavid has already won once in 2016-17 when he put up a 100 point season (30-70-100) in 82 games. McDavid has finished fifth on two occasions since then, and third once. It doesn’t take much imagination to think that he’ll at least be in the conversation once again next season.
The 2019-20 Hart Trophy was won by McDavid’s teammate Leon Draisaitl.
Other Oilers odds:
- McDavid is also the favourite to win the Art Ross trophy in 2021 (+275). The Art Ross trophy is awarded to the player who leads the league in points at the conclusion of the regular season. Leon Draisaitl is right below McDavid (+500)
- Defenceman Evan Bouchard (+2000) is listed as a longshot to win the Calder trophy as rookie of the year
- Oilers head coach Dave Tippett checks in at +1400 to win the Jack Adams award for coach of the year
- Darnell Nurse would bring in a cool +6600 should he take the Norris Trophy for defenceman of the year.
