Later this morning marks our first entry into this year’s Top 25 Under 25. How have we done so far? In case you missed it, pop on over to check out our #4 entry from yesterday: Ethan Bear.
I actually had Bear at #2, because I couldn’t rank the incumbent 1RD any lower than that, even if, say, a guy like Evan Bouchard has the potential to be a better one. Of course, that’s just me. If Nail Yakupov was still Oilers property I’d be for sure trying to make a case for including an overager because I just love him so much.
But I digress. The biggest news in my world yesterday was probably this:
Not finalized yet, and still subject to change, but the 2020-21 four-division re-alignment currently looks like this according to sources:— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) December 9, 2020
So there you have it, folks. Looks to me like at least four Canadian teams will make the NHL playoffs for the first time in what feels like a millennia. You’d have to think the Oilers are at least even money to be one of the four best Canadian teams, given the state of most of them. It will unfortunately make it that much more painful if the Oilers aren’t in a playoff position come game 56.
