Morning, folks!
A piece of news that snuck under our radar yesterday: Oilers’ D prospect Philip Kemp — who landed at #17 in this year’s Top 25 Under 25 — found a job in Sweden’s second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan yesterday.
Per the Oilers’ official Twitter account:
The #Oilers have loaned defenceman Philip Kemp to @VasbyHockey of @HockeyAllsvensk for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

Kemp, who signed his entry-level contract on Nov. 25, joins fellow Edmonton prospect Raphael Lavoie on the Swedish second-division squad. pic.twitter.com/6siKuHnCc9
Nice.
It was important for Kemp to find work ASAP after the Ivy League cancelled its winter sports competitions in November. Kemp will join the same team that F prospect Raphael Lavoie has been plying his trade with.
Speaking of Lavoie:
Speaking of @VasbyHockey, #Oilers forward prospect Raphael Lavoie scored for the third consecutive game yesterday & now has 10 tallies in 20 games this season, tying him for third in @HockeyAllsvensk. https://t.co/rnIyzOCb8b
— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) November 30, 2020
Nice.
And there was even more news out of the HockeyAllsvenskan in the last 24 hours:
#Oilers 2020 seventh-round pick Jeremias Lindewall has signed with @MODO_Hockey for the remainder of the 2020-21 season as well as the following two seasons.
— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) November 30, 2020
The forward has 2 goals & 1 assist in 12 @HockeyAllsvensk games this year, including a goal during yesterday's victory. https://t.co/UAHTHdBteH
Lindewall was always a longshot given where he was picked in the NHL Draft, and his spending a few years in Sweden before having any sort of shot to come over was always the most likely near-term outcome.
In other news, still no progress from the NHL and its PA’s ongoing discussions. From TSN’s Pierre LeBrun this morning:
The NHL still hopes to drop the puck in early January, which is a month away. A league source said this morning the target date hasn't shifted and that talks with the NHLPA continue. But my own two cents, given the Covid numbers, is that season may be further delayed. We'll see.

The insiders are already going from “January 1” to “early January” language. Hold on to your butts, folks, the 2020-21 season’s no guarantee just yet.
