Kahun loaned, bad contracts, Evan Bouchard’s value, expectations for 20-21, and MORE!

Morning, folks.

It’s Friday, so you know what that means. I’m gonna shut my big old mouth and let you dedicated commenters drive the discussion.

Possible angles?

Dominik Kahun’s loan to the DEL. Kahun is perhaps the only non-prospect (in that he’s a lock to make the team; is unquestionably a ‘first-teamer’) plying his trade right now, even though Leon Draisaitl has been practicing over there for some time. Is this a good thing? Concerning due to the risk or injury? How do we feel?

Ethan Bear is still waiting for an extension. Unfortunately, until the Oilers either make a move to free up some cap space, or move Oscar Klefbom to LTIR — something that probably won’t happen until the start of next season for maximum benefit — he’ll remain without one. Caleb Jones’ latest extension amounted to a song, and will represent amazing value to the Oilers over the next two years, but Bear played a far more important role last season so I’m not expecting a ton of similarity between those two contracts.

Other than that? I’ve tried nothing and I’m all out of ideas. I’m getting a little veklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

And also stay safe, wear your mask, and have a great weekend.
