Morning, folks.
As we await the fate of the ‘free world’, let’s dive right into some Oilers stuff:
Caleb Jones looks like he’ll have to play top four minutes this season, as the massive, Oscar Klefbom-sized hole in the left side of defense has yet to be properly addressed. Yes, they signed Tyson Barrie — right handed — in Free Agency. Yes, they extended Kris Russell — not at all good — in what appears to be a move with one eye toward expansion. But, so?
Their left side still looks like this:
Darnell Nurse
Caleb Jones
Kris Russell
William Lagesson
Jones is going to play — he’s going to play a lot — and he needs to find success for the Oilers to have any chance at competing for anything important.
Also, check out this amazing Joey Moss tribute, from local artist AJA Louden (@AJALouden):
I painted this portrait of Joey Moss today not far from Coliseum. Edmonton Legend, remembered for his blue collar work ethic, pride in his craft, and passion for the teams he worked with. 70 seasons strong. Thank you for the inspiration Joey! pic.twitter.com/b7pgzdtaJT
