Morning, folks!

Technical difficulties this morning means I’m pressed for time today, but how about that Ken Holland?!

Dominik Kahun’s signing last night represents a fantastic — truly fantastic — bit of business by the Oilers GM, rounding off a quite pleasing signing season if you just plug your nose and forget about Mike Smith. Even then, part of my problem with re-signing Smith — other than the ‘he’s not good at all anymore’ bit, of course — was that I thought it might then preclude Kenny Netherlands from being able to take advantage of the depressed UFA market and sign someone like Dominik Kahun for dirt. And not even fresh dirt. Like old, cheap dirt.

Turns out I don’t know shit, and Ken Holland did it anyway.

So, how do you orient the squad? I know people are thinking that Kahun will slot in beside Leon Draisaitl but I’m not so sure. Kahun’s signing means you could go Connor McDavid, Dominik Kahun and (Jesse Puljujarvi) whoever on L1 while keeping the most ridiculous line in hockey for parts of last season — Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Kailer Yamamoto — together.

Either way. Options. Exciting. Nice work, Ken!
