Though talked about a lot locally, It was always a long shot, so no major surprise here, but a return to Edmonton unlikely for Taylor Hall.. doesn't sound like any discussions are being had at this point. Money never really made sense.

Have to wonder about Mikko Koivu as a fit for Oilers 3c spot. Would be a huge influence on Jesse Puljujarvi, and a veteran presence in the room. Grant/Kahun other potential options. We shall see..
— Ryan Rishaug (@TSNRyanRishaug) October 9, 2020
9:53am: The OEL to Vancouver dream is still alive as the two teams are engaged in discussions this morning...
The Vancouver Canucks are hard at it this morning. It’s believed the Canucks have made another offer on Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Whether this results in a deal with Arizona TBD.

— Oilers News and Updates (@oilersaccess) October 9, 2020
9:47am: The news keeps getting worse on the Klefbom front as Dreger is reporting that the defender could be out “a long long time”. Putting him on LTIR does two things: open up an additional $4 million in cap-space and puts Edmonton in the market for a LD.
Darren Dreger just said that it's expected that Klefbom will be out of the lineup for "a long long time." No bueno. -bm
— Oilersnation.com (@OilersNation) October 9, 2020
9:42am: Yet another good depth scoring winger will hit the market in Jesper Fast. The Swede hit 29 points last season with the Rangers....hard to say if Edmonton would have interest given their logjam at RW

— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) October 9, 2020
9:37am: TJ Brodie will hit the market as he and the Flames were unable to strike a deal. Would he be a possible Oilers target? I’ll add him to the list!
CGY and pending UFA D T.J. Brodie, a left shot who plays the right side, have had more contract talks in the last hour but weren’t able to get a deal done. Unless things change before noon, expect Brodie to go market.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) October 9, 2020
9:33am: Looks like, former Oiler, Cam Talbot will be hitting the market. The Flames will enter a crowded goalie market with interest in.....Anton Khudobin?
Flames circled back to Cam Talbot's camp late last night but all signs indicate the goalie heading to the UFA market. I wonder about Dallas as a potential fit for Talbot. Also my understanding is the Flames have interest in Anton Khubodin among other UFA netminders...
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) October 9, 2020
9:30am: It looks like the Detroit Red Wings are the team to beat when it comes to landing Bobby Ryan. The 33-year-old is coming off a difficult season plagued by substance abuse troubles. Luckily he was able to get some help and is looking for a fresh start.
Led to believe the Detroit Red Wings may be the front runners for former #Sens winger Bobby Ryan. He was bought out last month by the club and has been allowed to shop himself around. He's had a ton of interest. #NHLFreeAgency
— Bruce Garrioch (@SunGarrioch) October 9, 2020
9:19am: The Bruins are going to be a major player in the Taylor Hall sweepstakes....I’d keep an eye on Jake Debrusk as he’s a player the Oilers have had interest in before.
Starting to hear more chatter that #NHLBruins making a harder push on Taylor Hall. Also Jake DeBrusk trade chatter picking up again. @BOSHockeyNow
— MurphysLaw74 (@MurphysLaw74) October 9, 2020
9:16am: After weeks of relentless speculation linking Henrik Lundqvist to the Washington Capitals it seems we are finally going to see it happen. Hank is expected to sign a one-year deal when the window opens in less than an hour.
Hearing a one-year deal with Henrik Lundqvist and the Capitals when it can become official. Which admittedly is an obvious term for this kind of arrangement.
— Greg Wyshynski (@wyshynski) October 7, 2020
9:13am: The Bobfather himself is adding fuel onto the Markstrom to Oilers fire....a max term is rumoured to be on the table....

9:09am: first big news of the day is a trade! The Winnipeg Jets acquire Paul Stastny from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Carl Dahlstrom and a 4th round pick in 2022
