Morning, folks!
The two stories that caught my eye yesterday involved both the AHL and OHL:
The targeted start date for the 2020-21 AHL regular season has been moved to February 5, 2021.
— AHL Communications (@AHLPR) October 28, 2020
Further details regarding the 2020-21 season are still to be determined.

Encouraging. Sure, there is — as the AHL communications folks allude to — a lot of T’s to dot and I’s to cross before they can even make that start date happen, but that they’re eyeing a target date is encouraging. It also means that the overseas Oilers prospects will still have a few more months to bed in before they’re required to come back.
It’s also just generally good news that they can have more control over the usage and development of some of these guys.
Then, in Canadian major-junior news:
OHL GM’s will virtually meet tomorrow. It’s expected the league will announce a Feb 4th season start. Training camps are expected to open Jan 25th. Eight team playoff also expected to be unveiled.

Interesting. Again, this is good news generally for the spot, especially for those young men who had an eye toward being drafted next season.
As a reminder, the NHL hasn’t announced anything formal yet RE: start date either:
NHL announces the postponement of both the Winter Classic and the All-star Game for the 20-21 season....in doing so, they insist it does not impact the plan to target “around” January 1/21 as the start date of the new season.
