Hey, folks!

The Oilers are back at it tonight as they welcome the defending champion Blues to town this evening. Edmonton earned a single point last time out against Calgary after losing in the shootout, and will be looking for more against the class of the Western Conference. Edmonton moved Joakim Nygard (hand) and Kris Russell (head) to the IR yesterday after both were injured in Wednesday night’s game. Tyler Benson and William Lagesson have been recalled in their stead, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see one, or both, draw in tonight.

We’re approaching the eight-year anniversary of Sam Gagner’s magical 8 point night against the Blackhawks. Can you believe it’s been that long?

Lowetide took a look at the Oilers’ current 50-man contract list to try and suss out who might move where (and how, and why, etc) as we approach the Trade Deadline.

CB tried to explain how I think a lot of us around these parts are feeling about the Kassian deal. For him, the human being? Great. Super happy. Glad he got paid, glad he turned his life around and all of that. It’s truly a good story and I’m very hopeful he can prove me wrong. That said, as fans of the team and their chances to be as good as they can be, it’s probably not the best use of their money. It signifies, again, problems with how the Oilers identify and evaluate players, and indicates that there’s still a ways to go before decisions like this stop coming from Kingsway.

But, I digress. Big game tonight! Oilers need a W to keep pace in the extremely tight Pacific Division. See you then.
