The long national nightmare is over...for now.
Jesse Puljujarvi has signed a one year deal to play in Oulu of the Finnish League for at least part of the 2019-20 season. The deal has an out-clause that will allow Puljujarvi to return to the NHL before December 1st.
The relationship between the Oilers and Jesse Puljujarvi (and his agent) have deteriorated greatly this offseason to the point where Puljujarvi has not signed his qualifying offer. Recently, Puljujarvi’s camp has requested a trade from the Oilers. There’s been no action on the trade front, and it could be that Ken Holland is simply playing hardball. It may be a case of there may not be a fair return on the market. However this may be, it’s best for him to be playing when the season starts. It’s a shame it’s not with the Oilers.
Jesse Puljujarvi’s most common linemate during his time in Edmonton was Milan Lucic. He has compiled 37 points (17-20-37) in 139 career NHL games.
Puljujarvi’s NHL rights remain with the Oilers until a deal can be made.
More to come.
