Good morning, everyone! Hope you had a good weekend. Where were we?
Right, right. Kawhi left, and he managed to take Paul George with him to LA. Thanks for a great year, though.
Oilers 2019 first round pick D Philip Broberg has elected to play in Sweden next season. Hopefully he gets the amount of ice he’ll need to continue his development, though I’d imagine all things equal it will be better for him to play against men than it would his peer group.
Sunil was on CBC radio talking Oilers with Adrienne Pan recently. He also did a bit of digging into the numbers behind Mikael Granlund’s 4v5 reputation.
Who is left in Free Agency? Some smoke around the names Pat Maroon, Derrick Brassard, and Ryan Dzingel, but most of that smoke appears to be Maroon or Brassard related, easily the least exciting of the three for me, nostalgia be damned.
Marcus Johansson signed a pretty reasonable two-year pact with the Buffalo Sabres. For me, I’d have ponied up for Johansson at that price and ran a league min goalie and 4L winger instead of re-upping Mike Smith and Alex Chiasson. A guy like Johansson could actually move the needle a little bit.
I’m sure other things happened but I’ve got a headache that could sear a steak. Have a great week!
