Finally, some news we can all get behind. The Oilers have inked their first round selection in this year’s draft to a three year entry-level contract. Swedish defenceman Philip Broberg’s deal will carry a 1.175MM AAV per year, which will start during his first professional season of play.
NOW WHAT?
It’s off to the Swedish Hockey League...or maybe the OHL. Broberg hasn’t yet made the decision whether he’ll suit up for Skelleftea or the Hamilton Bulldogs, who own his OHL rights. It’ll be a year before his ELC will have a chance to kick in no matter where he suits up, so let’s all enjoy a year of development before a year in Bakersfield.
